The work opens with the proclamation of the coming of Jesus. The music carries us along, combining dramatic and intense fragments with joyful and colourful parts, until we come to the most famous chorus of the work, the Hallelujah, at the end of the second part, which covers the Passion of Christ and his Resurrection.
